Zusammenfassung

Die Inzidenz von Tumorerkrankungen und das assoziierte Überleben nehmen stetig zu. Patienten mit höherem Lebensalter und Komorbiditäten werden deutlich häufiger in kurativer Intention therapiert. Somit steigt auch die Zahl kritisch kranker Krebspatienten. Neue Entwicklungen in der Intensivmedizin, insbesondere in der Beatmungs- und Sepsistherapie, haben auch zu einer stetigen Verbesserung der Prognose kritisch erkrankter Tumorpatienten geführt. Intensivmedizinische Herausforderungen liegen in neuen Tumortherapeutika, insbesondere aus der Immuntherapie, die unerwartete und z. T. erhebliche systemische Nebenwirkungen haben. Die Identifikation klarer Aufnahmekriterien sowie eindeutiger Algorithmen bezüglich Behandlungsdauer und -umfang ist damit eine wichtige und dynamische interdisziplinäre Aufgabe für Onkologen und Intensivmediziner.
