Die Inkontinenz im Alter wird ein zunehmendes sozioökonomisches und medizinisches Problem. Einerseits ist dies begründet mit der Mehrzahl an Patienten, welche an chronischen Erkrankungen, wie M. Parkinson, Diabetes mellitus oder an demenziellen Erkrankungen leiden, andererseits aber auch durch die generelle demografische Entwicklung. Im Geschlechtervergleich sind Frauen häufiger als Männer betroffen. Bei Frauen über 80 Jahre haben über 1/4 aller Frauen Kontinenzprobleme, zwischen 65 und 79 Jahren sind es etwa 15 % der Frauen (Abb. 1). …
