Abstract
Abstract. We report two cases of rhabdomyolysis after electromyostimulation (EMS) without further complications (e.g. an acute renal insufficiency). We interpreted the elevated transaminases in the context of the rhabdomyolysis in absence of elevated liver-specific parameters. It remains unclear why certain individuals react to EMS with rhabdomyolysis. Genetic factors may be associated with increased susceptibility to high muscular stress or EMS in particular.
