Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1026/0942-5403/a000103

Help-seeking behavior for psychotherapy in Palestinian adolescents with and without posttraumatic stress disorder

Several studies have shown the consequences of political and military violence for the development of psychological disorders such as PTSD in children and adolescents in Palestine. Despite the problems of providing sufficient psychotherapeutic care in this region, little is known about what is influencing the help-seeking behavior of young patients suffering from PTSD and other stress responses. Enlarging Andersens’ model of health care utilization, we investigated several sociological and psychological factors influencing help-seeking behavior of adolescents (patients and non-patients; N=110), focusing at the psychological impact factors.
