We are glad to present a series of papers in which capsule experts and enthusiasts present their integrated view of indications and clinical situations in which capsule endoscopy will or should have a role. The following papers are based on the 4^th International Conference on Capsule Endoscopy, a symposium organized and sponsored by Given Imaging, and present the consensus opinion among the authors and not that of an endoscopic society such as ESGE or others. Nevertheless, these papers are meant to provide an interesting overview of the current status of capsule endoscopy and will hopefully serve to stimulate further research.
