Dear friends,

It is a great pleasure to announce the 9th International Congress on Interventional Ultrasound.

New technology and principles of classic US-guided interventional procedures, such as biopsies and drainage, will be reviewed. The congress will also focus on US-contrast agents and 3D/4D-US imaging, as well as the clinical impact of these technologies.

A major topic will be to discuss, demonstrate, and present results of US-guided tumor ablation, which has become a major therapeutic option.

The advantages of Interventional Ultrasound are shared by several clinical specialities. We are looking forward to demonstrating these advantages, but also to discuss the controversies of interventional ultrasound.

International speakers and local experts will provide state of the art lectures. New ideas and investigations will be presented by free communications. Your oral- or poster- contribution will be welcomed. The lectures will alternate with live demonstrations of several US-guided interventional procedures.

The congress is acknowledged as a Course of The European School of Ultrasound under EFSUMB.

Gathering old and new friends for a professional up-date at the 9th International Congress on Interventional Ultrasound, we hope to continue the success of the eight previous congresses hosted by Herlev Hospital and founded by Prof. Hans Henrik Holm in 1978.

Finally, I am happy to mention that the congress offers an attractive social programme and a dedicated commercial exhibition of interventional equipment from leading companies. We are looking forward to seeing you in June 2006 at the Herlev Hospital, University of Copenhagen.
