Background

Amniocentesis is a standard tool for evaluating pregnancies at risk of fetal congenital abnormalities. This prenatal invasive procedure presents a risk of direct fetal traumatism to any organ, including the eye [1]. We report a case of congenital divergent strabismus resulting from a possible previously undiagnosed transcutaneous ocular perforation during amniocentesis.
