Die Arbeitsgemeinschaft Wissenschaftlich-Medizinischer Fachgesellschaften (AWMF) hat kürzlich eine Bibliometriekonferenz abgehalten, um die Leistungsbewertung in der Medizin anhand von Impactfaktoren kritisch auf den Prüfstand zu stellen. Als Ergebnis dieser hochkarätigen Veranstaltung ist eine Stellungnahme der AWMF entstanden, die zu dem Schluss kommt, dass die Leistungsbewertung durch Impactfaktoren bald der Vergangenheit angehören sollte. Dies scheint sehr vernünftig, wird sich jedoch unseres Erachtens nicht so schnell realisieren lassen, da der Impactfaktor ein verlockend einfach zu ermittelndes und per Datenbanken leicht zugängliches Maß ist für vermeintlich gerechte Bewertung wissenschaftlicher Leistungen.
