EUROSON SCHOOL in Athens – US Elastography

 

The Hellenic Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology organizes a EUROSON SCHOOL entitled Ultrasound Elastography. Aim of the Conference is to summarize today’s Ultrasound Elastography and Therapeutic Ultrasound data, how they are applied in the new ultrasound applications in all organs of the body and how they are used from doctors of all specialties.

In these difficult circumstances the Board of Directors of the Greek Society of Ultrasound and the Organizing Committee of the EUROSON SCHOOL in cooperation with the European Society of Ultrasound (EFSUMB) persists in the organization of this Congress. The world economic crisis which concerns both Europe and Greece does not prevent neither the progress of technology nor the evolution of Ultrasound. Despite the difficult circumstances and the obstacles processing of this scientific and educational goal, we insist to organize this Congress and we ask for your active presence and support. In return, the Greek Society of Ultrasound has invited in the EUROSON SCHOOL most of the prominent scientists of Ultrasound in every diagnostic field and speakers from the biggest labs of the world, which specialize in Ultrasound Elastography and Therapeutic Ultrasound.

Main subjects of the EUROSON SCHOOL are US Elastography and Therapeutic US. There are many forms of Elastography which emerge from different manufacturers and content technologically different applications. These applications are described in the EUROSON SCHOOL and its Practical Courses.

• New Elastography technology adds specific valuable information in the study of all organs, potentially resulting to a “virtual biopsy”.

• Elastography, along with the Ultrasound Contrast Agents, opens the road for the arrival of Therapeutic Ultrasound: other equipment, using other frequencies allow the targeted, minimally invasive therapeutic intervention, especially in oncological patients, on both the superficial and the profound organs.

• Interventional diagnostic and therapeutic actions are the new chapter of Ultrasound. Ultrasound guided biopsies, assisted by Elastography, reach pathological tissue minimizing the traumatic act and restraining the biopsies number, especially in the thyroid and the prostate.

The role of the HSUMB, member of the EFSUMB, is to inform and educate on new technologies and applications of Ultrasound. Recent elastographic solutions add diagnostic information about undiscovered until now dimension of tissues. The EUROSON SCHOOL presents, judges and illuminates this recent technological path of US. We try to analyze those new clinical applications and guide the path of Elastography towards Therapeutic Ultrasound.
