Introduction

A frequent cause of the presence of subretinal fluid (SRF) within the macular region in otherwise asymptomatic “healthy” individuals is central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) – with some notable exceptions. Here, we aim to report a rare case of presumed subretinal echinococcosis to raise awareness of this otherwise little-known differential diagnostic entity and to provide insight into the real-life challenges and limitations of available diagnostic procedures and therapeutic management.
