Abstract
In professional dance the Achilles tendon in the area of the ankle in particular is subjected to strong mechanical stress. The characteristic elements of movement favor the development of malfunctions or overloading of the Achilles tendon. Chronic Achilles tendon disorders pose a threat to the career of dancers and should be avoided as part of work-related preventive measures. This review deals with the current state of research.
