Therapy of Cutaneous Manifestations

  • Chapter
Aspects of Lyme Borreliosis

Abstract

Cutaneous manifestations of Lyme borreliosis have been treated with antibiotics since the late 1940s. Therapy has first been carried out with penicillin and to a lesser extent with tetracycline, erythromycin, and Chloramphenicol (See Chap. 1). The initial impression gained from these studies had been that the aforementioned antibiotics are quite effective in ridding patients of their manifestations (Weber 1973). Recent developments have made it necessary to look at the treatment of the cutaneous manifestations from a new standpoint.
