Das Behçet-Syndrom wurde erstmals 1937 von dem türkischen Dermatologen H. Behçet beschrieben und ist durch orale und genitale Schleimhautulzerationen und eine Uveitis gekennzeichnet. Manche Autoren reihen das Syndrom unter die Vaskulitiden ein.Die Inzidenz und Prävalenz der Erkrankung ist in Japan, in der Türkei und im östlichenMittelmeer am höchsten.
