Zusammenfassung
Patienten, die von einer neurologischen Erkrankung betroffen sind, weisen – mit wenigen Ausnahmen – bei Geburt einen normalen muskuloskelettalen Status auf. Erst die unmittelbar postnatal oder im späteren Leben einsetzende Funktionsstörung verändert die Form und/oder die Struktur des Skelettorgans. Dieser Zusammenhang zwischen Form, Struktur und Funktion („form follows function“) ist mechanisch erklärbar und damit Gegenstand physikalischer Untersuchungs- und Berechnungsmethoden, wie sie im Spezialgebiet der funktionellen Anatomie und Biomechanik angewandt werden. Zu Beginn des Kapitels werden die wesentlichen physikalischen Grundbegriffe erklärt, die in Arbeiten zur funktionellen Anatomie und Biomechanik zu finden sind. Im anschließenden biologischen Teil werden biomechanische Grundprinzipien beschrieben, die im normalen Stand, Sitzen und Gehen des Menschen zu beobachten sind.
