Zusammenfassung
Die patientennahe Labordiagnostik hat eine lange Historie und ist aus der klinischen Medizin nicht mehr wegzudenken. Während einerseits die Zeit von der Blutentnahme bis zur therapeutischen Entscheidung aus medizinischen Gründen verkürzt werden kann, besteht auch die Möglichkeit, POCT-Geräte aus organisatorischen Gründen vorzuhalten, beispielsweise um klinische Abläufe zu verbessern oder die Patientenzufriedenheit zu erhöhen. Angesicht der Vielzahl der verfügbaren und frei erhältlichen Tests ist eine stringente Qualitätskontrolle bei den meisten Verfahren erforderlich und vorgeschrieben.
