Zusammenfassung
Der Beitrag entwirft eine sozialpsychologische Perspektive auf das Phänomen der Diskriminierung. Aus dieser Perspektive interessiert v. a. die Frage, welche individuellen Faktoren Personen dazu motivieren, eine andere Gruppe (Outgroup) oder Person, weil sie Mitglied einer Outgroup ist, zu benachteiligen, auszugrenzen oder systematisch abzuwerten. Das Phänomen der Diskriminierung wird dazu im Beitrag aufgefächert und in verschiedene Dimensionen zerlegt. Für die sozialpsychologische Forschung ist nach empirischer Befundlage primär die Identifikation mit Bezugsgruppen und die Adaption sozialer Vorurteile, die die Bezugsgruppe teilt oder vermittelt, maßgeblich. Zudem dienen Diskriminierungen der Aufrechterhaltung der Dominanz von Gruppen. Menschenfeindliche Orientierungen, die Gruppen entstammen, legitimieren die Diskriminierung. Auch Einstellungen spielen eine Rolle. Unter bestimmten Umständen bereiten sie Verhaltensweisen vor, die dann schädigende Konsequenzen erzeugen. Hierbei spielt die Verarbeitung von Diskriminierungen eine Rolle. Zum Ende stellt der Beitrag einige Herausforderungen für die Forschung und die Gesellschaft vor.
