Zusammenfassung

Verletzungen der physischen und psychischen Integrität sind unmittelbare, intime Erfahrungen — höchst persönlich und unhintergehbar real. Dennoch ist die körperliche und mentale Unversehrtheit keine bloß private Angelegenheit des Individuums. Gesundheit hängt vom sozialen Beziehungsnetzwerk, in das die Person eingebettet ist, ebenso ab wie von den aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen. Mens sana in corpore sano. Der gesunde Geist im gesunden Körper schwebt als klassisches Ideal hoch über den Dingen, scheinbar unberührt von gesellschaftspolitischer Dynamik. In der täglichen Arbeit im und am Gesundheitssystem aber werden der menschliche Körper und Geist zum umkämpften Territorium, auf dem Interessen kollidieren.
