Zusammenfassung
Wenn man die umfangreiche wissenschaftliche Literatur und die zahlreichen praktischen Therapievorschläge zur Behandlung einer therapieresistenten Depression zusammenfaßt und nur die empirisch ausreichend belegten Behandlungsmethoden berücksichtigt, lassen sich die vorgeschlagenen Strategien im wesentlichen auf die folgenden vier Grundprinzipien zurückführen:

Vermeidung einer Pseudotherapieresistenz (z. B. durch Noncompliance, Übersehen einer pharmakogenen oder organischen Depression etc.)

2.
Optimale Dosierung der Antidepressiva (Serumspiegel)

3.
Wechsel des biochemischen Wirkungsschwerpunkts der Antidepressiva
-
4.
Frühzeitiger Einsatz antidepressiv wirksamer Zusatzbehandlungsmaßnahmen.
