Zusammenfassung
Wenn unsere Zeit als eine Zeit revolutionärer Veränderungen zu bezeichnen ist, tragen die explosionsartige Zunahme der Weltbevölkerung insgesamt und die dramatischen Veränderungen in der Altersstruktur der Bevölkerung vieler Länder zu dieser Charakterisierung sicher mit bei. Die Veränderungen in der Altersstruktur sind in den entwickelten Ländern durch eine Zunahme der allgemeinen durchschnittlichen Lebenserwartung und die auch für die Zukunft noch zu erwartende weitere Zunahme des Anteils der Höchstaltrigen zu kennzeichnen.
