Abstract

Haemangiomas are considered to be benign malformations of blood vessels which develop independently from the adjacent normal circulatory system. They vary greatly in size, shape, site, histological appearance and behaviour and this has lead to great difficulty in classifying them. With our present knowledge, both the aetiological factors and the natural history of many haemangiomas remain obscure, resulting in much controversy regarding their treatment. Many authors have observed that the majority of haemangiomas tend to undergo spontaneous involution.
