Abstract

The increasing interest in surgery that aims at rejuvenation is partly attributable to the importance society now places on personal appearance and image. These external features have assumed greater importance with regard to social integration. Probably even more important, they are taken as a reflection of personality and self-respect. Vanity should not be seen as a product of competition, but rather as a necessity for each person to value themselves as an individual.
