Zusammenfassung
Steinkohlenteer wird durch trockene Destillation in Gasanstalten und Kokereien gewonnen. Die Zusammensetzung ist stark von der Herstellungstechnologie abhängig. Es handelt sich um ein Gemisch von etwa 1o 000 chemischen Substanzen, von denen nur etwa 400 identifiziert sind. Die Zusammensetzung ist etwa wie folgt zu charakterisieren: 2-8% Leichtöle wie Benzol und Xylol, 8 - 10 % Phenole und Kresol, 8 - 10 % Schweröle wie Naphtalin und Derivate, 20% Anthracenöl und 50% Pech (Koch 1985). Hervorzuheben ist das Vorhandensein vieler polyaromatischer Kohlenwasserstoffe. Von einem Teil derselben finden sich die Formeln in Abb. 13.1. Steinkohlenteer ist eine dunkelbraune Flüssigkeit mit charakteristischem Geruch. Er ist schwer löslich in Wasser, teilweise löslich in Aceton und Alkohol.
