Zusammenfassung

Jedes fünfte Krankenhaus in Deutschland schreibt rote Zahlen. Es entsteht ein zunehmender überregionaler Konkurrenzdruck zwischen medizinischen Leistungserbringern. Krankenhäuser fusionieren häufiger oder werden privatisiert. Eine strukturelle Neuorientierung von Krankenhäusern mit zunehmendem Bettenabbau erfordert strategische Neuausrichtungen (vgl. kna/aerzteblatt.de 2010).
