Zusammenfassung
Eine optimale Abbildung der Sehdinge im Raum auf der Netzhaut durch das dioptrische System des Auges ist eine Grundvoraussetzung für eine getreue Wahrnehmung unserer Umwelt mit dem Gesichtssinn. In einem idealen optischen System (beugungslimitiertes System) wird die Abbildung nur durch Beugung (▸ Abschn. 3.2) beeinträchtigt. In einem realen System wie dem menschlichen Auge kommen nochAbbildungsfehler (Aberrationen) und Streuung hinzu. Der wichtigste Grund für eine verminderte retinale Abbildungsqualität sind Aberrationen. Traditionell wird eine funktionell relevante Beeinträchtigung der retinalen Abbildungsqualität durch sphärische und astigmatische Defokussierung als Ametropie (Fehlsichtigkeit) bezeichnet. Abbildungsfehler können durch geeignete Korrekturlinsen (Brillenlinsen und Kontaktlinsen) vorübergehend und durch refraktiv-chirurgische Verfahren permanent korrigiert werden.
