In der Frühphase nach Herzoperationen unter Anwendung der extrakorporalen Zirkulation (EKZ) stehen die Stabilisierung der Vitalfunktionen, insbesondere der Hämodynamik, und die Prophylaxe oder das rechtzeitige Erkennen spezifischer Komplikationen im Mittelpunkt der Intensivbehandlung. Ist die Stabilisierung erreicht worden, kann mit der schrittweisen Reduktion invasiver Maßnahmen und Überwachungsverfahren begonnen werden.
