Die koronare oder ischämische Herzkrankheit ist gekennzeichnet durch eine ungenügende Blut- und Sauerstoffversorgung von Teilen des Myokards. Ursache sind atherosklerotische Veränderungen der epikardialen Koronararterien, die zu einem regionalen Missverhältnis oder Ungleichgewicht zwischen myokardialem Sauerstoffangebot und-bedarf führen. Klinische Manifestationen der Erkrankung sind Angina pectoris und die akuten Koronarsyndrome.
