Abstract
The vesicourethral anastomosis is the last step in the completion of a radical prostatectomy While the Da Vinci wristed instruments help facilitate the anastomosis; it remains a complex step to be carried out when the operating team is most tired. A properly constructed anastomosis is important in reducing urinary leak, and hastening the recovery phase. This chapter describes the different techniques used to perform a vesicourethral anastomosis, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each approach. With improved hand eye coordination, and movements similar to the human wrist, the anastomosis can be completed with ease, obviating potential morbidity.
