Abstract
Spermatogenesis needs special thermic conditions. The deleterious effect of hyperthermia on testicular function has been largely demonstrated (Kandeel and Swerdloff, 1988). The low testicular temperature is due to numerous regulatory systems (Setchell, 1978). In some pathologic cases, infertility is the consequence of hyperthermia (Zorgniotti and MacLeod, 1973; Mieusset et al., 1987). The aim of this study was to try to improve our understanding of human testicular regulation by a continuous measurement of scrotal skin temperature during local heating. It has been demonstrated that scrotal temperature reflects intratesticular temperature (Kurtz and Goldstein, 1986).
