Suizidalität ist einer der häufigsten psychiatrischen Notfälle. Die frühere Bundesrepublik Deutschland liegt im internationalen Vergleich mit etwa 21 Suizidfällen pro 100 000 Einwohner und dem 10- bis 15fachen an Suizidversuchen in Europa im oberen Drittel der Suizidraten.
