Predisposition and prevention

  • Chapter
Extravasation of Cytotoxic Agents

Abstract

An increased risk for damage caused by extravasation may be patient associated, caused by drugs, or iatrogenic. It also depends on the type of access that has been selected (peripheral venous or central venous). By strictly adhering to the measures described in the chapter “Prevention”, this risk can be minimised.
