Vitamin-D-Supplementierung im Sport: Was sind die aktuellen Empfehlungen?

Zusammenfassung

Kontinuität in Gesundheit und Training ermöglicht dem Sportler, die Leistungsfähigkeit zu steigern. Das Vitamin D ist in diesem Kontext ein essenzieller, wenn auch kleiner Puzzlestein. Ein suffizienter Vitamin-D-Status reduziert das Auftreten von Atemwegserkrankungen in den Wintermonaten, unterstützt den Knochenmetabolismus, die muskuläre Trainingsantwort und trägt massgeblich zur Gesundheit und Aufrechterhaltung der Leistungsfähigkeit bei Sportler*Innen bei. Der Vitamin-D-Status sollte 1‑ bis 2‑mal jährlich überprüft werden. Für alle Athleten mit insuffizientem Vitamin-D-Status oder Athleten, bei denen bestimmte Risikofaktoren vorliegen (dunkle Hautpigmentierung, relatives Energiedefizit, Amenorrhö, Ausüben einer Indoor-Sportart), wird eine Supplementation von 1000 bis 4000 IE täglich empfohlen.
