Rückenschmerz: von der Diagnose zur Therapie

Auch in Österreich ist Rückenschmerz eine Volkskrankheit. Das belegt eine Gesundheitsbefragung der Statistik Austria. Von rund 7500 Befragten ab 15 Jahren gaben 26 % an, in den letzten 12 Monaten darunter gelitten zu haben. Umgerechnet auf die österreichische Gesamtbevölkerung bedeutet das: 1,9 Mio. Personen waren betroffen. Bei den unter 60-Jährigen klagte jeder Fünfte (20,8 %) über Schmerzen, bei der Gruppe 60+ war es mehr als jeder Dritte (38,4 %). Das zeigt uns: Jugend schützt nicht vor Schmerzen. In jeder Altersgruppe lag das Schmerzgeschehen im zweistelligen Prozentbereich. Besonders bei sehr jungen Patient*innen sollte genauer hingesehen werden, um eine frühzeitige Chronifizierung zu verhindern. Aus diesem Grunde ist es von großer Wichtigkeit, mit gezielten Präventionsmaßnahmen bereits in der frühesten Kindheit zu beginnen. …
