Zusammenfassung

Zwischen 1974 und 1981 wurde bei 117 von 263 wegen akuten Winkelblockglaukoms behandelten Kranken eine prophylaktische Iridektomie am Partnerauge durchgeführt. In zwei Fällen traten Operationskomplikationen auf. Winkelblockglaukom entstand bei keinem der mindestens 2 Jahre kontrollierten 52 Kranken. Bildung oder Progression der Linsentrübungen sind nicht auf die Iridektomie, sondern auf das Alter der Kranken zurückzuführen.

Summary

Between 1974 and 1981 263 patients were treated for acute narrow-angle glaucoma; in 117 of these cases a prophylactic iridectomy was performed on the fellow eye. In two cases there were surgical complications. In none of the 52 patients followed up for at least two years did narrow-angle glaucoma recur. The formation or progression of lens opacities were attributable not to the iridectomy but to the age of the patients.
