Zusammenfassung

Die Echographie und besonders die Kombination der A- und B-Bilddarstellung ist eine der bedeutendsten laborklinischen Methoden der Ophthalmologie. Das Verfahren wurde bei ca. 1000 Patienten mit trüben Medien in den letzten vier Jahren in unserer Klinik verwendet. Die Diagnose pathologischer Befunde wurde in 158 Fällen bestätigt, während bei den übrigen Fällen das Echogramm normal war. Die Netzhautablösung ist echographisch der häufigste pathologische Befund. Des weiteren ist die Echographie bei der Auswahl und präoperativen Beurteilung von Vitrektomiepatienten sehr wichtig.

Summary

Ultrasonography, and especially the combined use of A- and B-scan echography, is one of the most important methods of clinical investigation in ophthalmology. It was employed on 1000 patients with opaque media. In 158 cases the examination confirmed the diagnosis of pathologic changes, while in the rest the echograms were normal. The most frequent finding was retinal detachment. Echography is also the most important examination for selection and preoperative examination of candidates for vitrectomy.
