Am 5.12.2013 ist in Warschau einer der herausragenden Vertreter Polens in der Europäischen Gesellschaft für Klinische Ernährung und Metabolismus (ESPEN), Prof. Dr. Marek Pertkiewicz, nach kurzer schwerer Krankheit im Alter von 66 Jahren verstorben. Bis zuletzt leitete er die Chirurgische Abteilung in dem zur Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Warschau gehörenden Prof. W. Orlowskiego Spital. Mit ihm verliert Europa einen seiner besten Chirurgen auf dem Gebiet der klinischen, insbesondere parenteralen Ernährung.
