Zusammenfassung

Die Biologika, allen voran die TNF-alpha-Blocker zu Beginn dieses Jahrtausends, haben die Therapie der entzündlich-rheumatischen Systemerkrankungen revolutioniert. Neben den deutlich besseren Ansprechraten gegenüber den klassischen DMARDs (MTX) verlängern die biologischen Arzneien das (Über)Leben, insbesondere ab 2000. Die Lebensqualität ist gestiegen, es kam zu einem Rückgang der Invalidität und zu einer Zunahme der Arbeitsfähigkeit, um nur einzelne Beispiele zu nennen.
