The value of NLR versus MLR in the short-term prognostic assessment of HBV-related acute-on-chronic liver failure
2023, International ImmunopharmacologyNeutrophil-lymphocyte ratios as inflammatory biomarkers in psychiatric patients
2022, Brain, Behavior, and ImmunityCitation Excerpt :The neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been suggested as an efficient and inexpensive measure for detecting the presence of inflammation. The NLR was originally developed to provide a suitable parameter reflecting the intensity of stress and systemic inflammation in critically ill patients but has since been shown to demonstrate prognostic value of poor outcomes across a range of diseases including pancreatitis, cardiovascular and liver diseases (Zulfic et al., 2020; Mazza et al., 2018; Azab et al., 2011; Prats-Puig et al., 2015). NLR has considerable advantage over other inflammatory biomarkers since it does not require the use of expensive immunoassays and can be easily derived from routine blood counts (Brinn and Stone, 2020).
