Zusammenfassung

Der Zusammenhang zwischen depressiven Störungen und sexuellen Dysfunktionen ist für die psychiatrische Praxis von großer Bedeutung, da sowohl affektive als auch sexuelle Störungen durch eine hohe Prävalenz und ausgeprägte Komorbidität charakterisiert sind. Ein hoher Prozentsatz depressiver Männer und Frauen beklagt sexuelle Probleme, die bei Frauen vorwiegend die sexuelle Appetenz betreffen, während bei Männern häufig zusätzlich die Erregung und Erektionsfähigkeit beeinträchtigt sind. Die Beziehung zwischen Depressionen und sexuellen Funktionsstörungen ist wechselseitig und wird weiter kompliziert durch die Nebenwirkungen von Antidepressiva, die neben der sexuellen Erregung vor allem die Orgasmusfähigkeit vermindern. Bei allen Patienten mit depressiven Störungen sollte in Diagnostik und Therapie die Sexualität angemessen berücksichtigt werden.

Abstract

For the psychiatrist the association between depression and sexual dysfunction is of major importance since both affective and sexual disorders are highly prevalent and exhibit a marked co-morbidity. A high percentage of men and women suffering from depression reports sexual problems. In women, sexual desire is predominantly affected while in men both desire and erectile function tend to be impaired. However, the relationship between depressive mood and sexual dysfunction is bidirectional and further complicated by the sexual side effects of antidepressants which most often affect sexual arousal and orgasmic function. As a consequence, the sexual sphere should be adequately and routinely addressed in the assessment and treatment of all depressive patients.
