Zusammenfassung

Kinder aus alkoholbelasteten Familien stellen eine Risikogruppe zur Entwicklung von Verhaltensauffälligkeiten, psychischen Störungen im Kindes- und Jugendalter sowie Suchtstörungen ab dem Jugendalter dar. In jeder siebten Familie erfüllt ein Elternteil eine Lebenszeitdiagnose für eine alkoholbezogene Störung. Das Risiko für diese Kinder, selbst an einer Alkoholstörung zu erkranken, ist bis zum Sechsfachen erhöht. Mehr als 30 % von ihnen werden selbst im Laufe ihres Lebens alkoholabhängig. Kinder aus alkoholbelasteten Familien stellen somit die größte Risikogruppe bezüglich der Entwicklung von Suchtstörungen dar. Kinder alkoholkranker Eltern sind die größte bekannte Risikogruppe bezüglich der Entwicklung von Suchtstörungen ab dem Jugendalter. Ihnen sollten daher besondere Anstrengungen im Bereich Früherkennung und Frühintervention (Sekundärprävention) gelten. In der Praxis werden diese in ihrer Lebenssituation oft nicht erkannt und erhalten dementsprechend keine frühzeitigen Hilfen.

Children of Alcohol Abusing or Dependent Parents - a Review of Research Results and Treatment Perspectives

Children from families with alcohol abusing parents are a special risk population for conduct problems, psychological disturbance during childhood and youth and for addictive diseases, especially. In Germany, one of seven children grows up with a parent that has a lifetime diagnosis for alcohol related disorders. These children's risk to become addicts is up to sixfold increased. More than 30 % of them will have a lifetime diagnosis for alcohol addiction. Children of alcoholics, therefore, have the greatest risk for addictive diseases from all relevant subgroups ever investigated. These children often are not recognized as such and, therefore, are not addressed specificially. These children should be addressed, especially, by efforts of early detection and early intervention. In practice, they are too often not recognized as such and therefore not treated properly.
