Methicillin-resistente Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) werden immer häufiger als Erreger nosokomialer Infektionen sowie im Rahmen von Häufungen oder Ausbrüchen besonders in Kliniken beobachtet.

Um eine Ausbreitung der resistenten Erreger innerhalb einer Klinik zu begrenzen, haben mikrobiologische, krankenhaushygienische und infektiologische Organisationen Hygienerichtlinien für den Umgang mit MRSA erarbeitet.

Allen Empfehlungen gemeinsam ist die Notwendigkeit einer Eradikationsbehandlung von MRSA-Trägern. Jedoch ist die Effektivität einzelner empfohlener Sanierungsmaßnahmen bisher nicht ausreichend durch vergleichende klinische Studien belegt.

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, eine Übersicht über die möglichen Sanierungsmaßnahmen zur Eradikation von MRSA-Kolonisationen zu geben.

Während eine systemische Infektion durch MRSA verlässlich nur mit Antibiotika der Glykopeptidklasse behandelt werden kann, gelingt die Sanierung einer MRSA-Besiedelung ausschließlich mit topischen Antiinfektiva und antibiotisch lokal wirkenden Substanzen, entweder alleine oder in Kombination mit enteralen Antibiotika. Die parenterale Gabe von Glykopeptidantibiotika zur Eradikationsbehandlung von Besiedelungen ist unwirksam [1].
