The guidelines also considered the role of fluoroquinolones, taking into account the characteristics of this class of antibiotics [26] and the increasing concerns about their safety [27,28]. Fluoroquinolones are broad-spectrum antibiotics and can be used for both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria [26].
