Section snippets
Discussion
Transient left ventricular apical ballooning or Takotsubo-like cardiomyopathy has been described as a novel cardiac syndrome of left ventricular apical ballooning with chest pain, electrocardiographic changes, and minimal elevation of cardiac enzymes resembling acute myocardial infarction, but without evidence of myocardial ischemia or injury.1 It predominantly occurs in postmenopausal women,2 and a period of acute emotional or physiologic stress seems to precede the onset of symptoms in most
Conclusions
Our case is one of the more rare occurrences of the syndrome in a man. Literature search has not revealed many other cases associated with rhabdomyolysis, as occurred in our patient.
