[36] investigated the effect of the irradiated volume among 72 patients included in phase II trials. The patients were retrospectively classified into 2 groups: a group of patients in which the initial tumour volume was fully covered by radiation fields and another group in which the initial tumour was partially irradiated.

No difference was found in local recurrence rates between the two arms [42]. The results of these three studies suggest that it is appropriate to treat the post-chemotherapy tumour volume.
