(4). Indeed, several retrospective studies have demonstrated that pulmonary metastasectomy, including the use of video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and removing 1 to 5 lesions, prolongs overall survival (OS) in carefully selected patients (5-12). Current national guidelines recommend definitive local therapy as an alternative to systemic therapy if it can be safely performed in well-selected patients with limited pulmonary metastases from melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and colon cancer (13-15).
