Tabak-, Alkohol- und Drogenkonsum sowie Impfverhalten von Gesundheits- und KrankenpflegeschülerInnen in Sachsen-Anhalt

Smoking, alcohol consumption, use of illegal substances, and vaccinations in nursing students from Saxony-Anhalt

Zusammenfassung

Rauchen, Alkoholkonsum und fehlende körperliche Aktivität sind in unterschiedlichen medizinischen Berufsgruppen ein gesundheitsschädigendes Problem. Schwerpunkt der Untersuchung sollen Krankheitsrisiken und gesundheitsfördernde Maßnahmen bei Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegeschülern in Sachsen-Anhalt sein. Ein validiertes Fragebogeninstrument wurde an alle 23 staatlich anerkannten Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegeschulen Sachsen-Anhalts ausgegeben, wovon sich 22 Schulen an der Studie beteiligten. Von insgesamt 1.379 Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegeschülern beteiligten sich 962 (Rücklaufquote 69,8%). Die Raucherquote lag bei 53,5% und 24,1% der Auszubildenden erreichten einen hohen TOAM–Wert für den Alkoholkonsum. Dabei wiesen signifikant mehr weibliche als männliche Auszubildende ein gesundheitsgefährdendes Trinkverhalten auf. Eine Hochrisikogruppe für gesundheitsschädigendes Verhalten (Alkohol, Nikotin, illegale Drogen) konnte nicht gefunden werden. Es zeigten sich partiell Defizite im Gesundheitsverhalten der befragten Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegeschüler. Gezielte gesundheitsfördernde Maßnahmen im WHO-Settingansatz, wie zum Beispiel rauchfreie Krankenhäuser, wären geeignet in den Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegeschulen das Bewusstsein für Gesundheitsgefährdungen zu schaffen.

Summary

According to several previous studies, smoking, alcohol intake, and lack of physical activities are problems in medical professions. Therefore the study investigated risky health behaviour in nursing students in Saxony-Anhalt. For data collection, a standardised anonymous questionnaire has been used. Altogether 22 of 23 nursing colleges in Saxony-Anhalt were included in the study and 962 nursing students participated (response rate 69.8%). The proportion of smokers was 53,5%, and 24,1% of the students reported increased TOAM-values related to alcohol intake. Significant more female than male nursing students presented unhealthy drinking habits. A specific high risk group (combined use of alcohol, smoking, illegal substances) was not found. The study indicates, the higher proportions of the investigated nursing students present unhealthy habits. Therefore health promoting activities, according to the WHO setting concept, are required to change these habits, e.g. smoke-free hospitals.
