Geschlechtsunterschiede in der Psychopharmakologie – Gendermedizin in der Psychiatrie

Summary:

This short article provides a brief overview of current research results and trends within an important field of gender medicine - covering psychopharmacological aspects in psychiatric diseases. Three of the most prescribed drugs, namely antidepressants, mood stabilizers and antipsychotics are described regarding their sex-specific effects and side effects, as well as important aspects to be taken into account when used in practice. Additionally, special hints are offered with respect to the use of these medications during pregnancy and their teratogenic potential.

Dieser Beitrag aus dem Bereich der Gendermedizin gibt einen kurzen Überblick über aktuelle Studienergebnisse und Entwicklungen der pharmakologischen Therapie bei psychiatrischen Erkrankungen. Drei der am häufigsten verschriebenen Medikamentengruppen, Antidepressiva, Stimmungsstabilisierer sowie Antipsychotika werden herausgegriffen und hinsichtlich ihrer geschlechtsspezifisch unterschiedlichen Wirkungsweisen, ihres Nebenwirkungsspektrums sowie speziell zu beachtender Aspekte in der Praxis beschrieben. Zusätzlich werden Hinweise auf die Einnahme dieser Substanzen während der Schwangerschaft sowie ihr teratogenes Potential gegeben.
