Les Enjeux du Retard Pubertaire chez le Garçon

Résumé

Le retard pubertaire du garçon – défini par l’absence de manifestations physiques de puberté au-delà de l’âge de 14 ans – est un problème très courant, généralement sans danger. Il peut être attribué dans 60 % des cas à un retard constitutionnel, dit «simple», ou à une maladie chronique avec retard de la croissance et de la maturation. Cependant, dans les cas restants, dans lesquels il existe un hypogonadisme, hypergonadotrope ou hypogonadotrope, le diagnostic ne doit pas être manqué. En effet, si le patient avec retard constitutionnel de la croissance et de la puberté a besoin juste d’un traitement d’induction avec testostérone pour vaincre le stress psychologique lié à la mauvaise perception psychologique du retard pubertaire, en cas d’hypogonadisme permanent il faudra installer un traitement hormonal de substitution à longue terme.
