Intussusception and perforation due to an inflammatory fibroid polyp located in the ileum

Inflammatory fibroid polyp (IFP) is a rare neoplastic submucosal lesion of gastrointestinal tract. The most common site of the lesion is the stomach. The second most common sites are colon and small bowel. IFP originates from submucosa and grows as a polypoid mass which usually presents as intussusception or obstruction. Clinical symptoms may vary according to the location of the lesion. Intussusception and obstruction are symptoms of the lesions located in the small bowel. In this report, we present two cases of IFP with recurrent ileoileal intussusception, one of which results in perforation. …Anzeige
