Die akute Epididymitis stellt in der urologischen Praxis ein häufiges infektiologisches Krankheitsbild dar, deren jährliche Inzidenz in der Literatur 25–65 Fälle pro 10.000 Männern beträgt [1]. Im ambulanten Bereich ist sie die häufigste Ursache für skrotale Schmerzen bei Erwachsenen, was in den USA für bis zu 600.000 Fälle pro Jahr verantwortlich ist [2]. Die Inzidenz für Kinder liegt in prospektiven, populationsbasierten Studien bei 1 Fall auf 1000 Jungen [3]. …
