Epidemiologische Daten zu osteoporotischen Frakturen in Österreich

Die klinische Signifikanz der Osteoporose besteht in atraumatischen Frakturen, die als Folge erhöhter Knochenbrüchigkeit auftreten. Die Datenlage zur Inzidenz von Fragilitätsfrakturen gestaltet sich in den Ländern der EU sehr unterschiedlich. Der aktuellste vorliegende Bericht im Auftrag der International Osteoporosis Foundation über die Last von Osteoporose und Frakturen in der Europäischen Union (EU27), der ein Benchmarking zulässt, stammt aus dem Jahr 2013 [1]. Nach diesem Bericht liegt die Prävalenz der Osteoporose bei über 50-Jährigen in Österreich bei 6,5 % für Männer und 22,2 % für Frauen [1]. Weitere Daten für Österreich zeigen, dass sich die Gesamtzahl an Fragilitätsfrakturen wie folgt aufteilt: 28,6 % Hüftfrakturen, 15,1 % Wirbelfrakturen, 15,5 % Unterarmfrakturen und 50,8 % andere Frakturen. Gemeinsam mit Dänemark und Schweden zählt Österreich damit zu den 3 Ländern mit der höchsten EU-standardisierten Inzidenzrate für Hüftfrakturen. Die geschätzte Inzidenz in der österreichischen Bevölkerung über 50 Jahre betrug 311 für Männer und 453 für Frauen, jeweils pro 100.000 [1]. Vergleichsweise lag die Inzidenz in der Gesamtbevölkerung zwischen 172 in Spanien und 471 in Dänemark. …
